Licensed, regulated, and held to one standard
We licence and regulate member academies, set the safeguarding and coaching standards they must meet, and run the competitive season that brings them together.
Families register directly with BCSAA through Register to Play, or through Play for All if cost is a barrier. Academies apply for a licence of their own.

Membership standards
Seven requirements, no exceptions
These are reviewed at application and remain conditions of continued membership.
Qualified coaching staff
Coaches working with league teams must hold coaching qualifications appropriate to the age group they lead, and must hold current Respect in Sport certification.
Screening of all personnel
A Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector screening is required for every adult in a position of trust or authority over youth players.
Financial requirements & good standing
Membership dues and any competition fees must be kept in good standing, player registration monies handled responsibly, and the academy's program run on a sound financial footing. Financial good standing is a condition of continued membership.
Emergency preparedness
A written Emergency Action Plan for each venue used, an accessible first aid kit at every session, and identified responders on site.
Adherence to BCSAA rules
Acceptance of the Constitution, Bylaws, competition rules and the SafeSport & Child Protection Policy as a condition of membership.
Accurate registration
Complete and truthful player and team registration, including proof of age, so that divisions and bio-banded groupings are correctly formed.
Liability insurance
Member academies must carry and maintain general liability insurance covering their training and match activity.

Application
How an academy becomes a member
Enquiry
Get in touch with a short description of your academy: where you train, the age groups you run, how many teams you would want to enter and who coaches them.
Standards review
We review your coaching qualifications, screening records, insurance and venue arrangements against the association’s membership standards.
Admission
Successful applicants are admitted as members under the Bylaws and accept the Constitution, Bylaws, competition rules and SafeSport Policy in writing.
Team entry
Your academy enters teams into the appropriate Academy Super League divisions for the coming September-to-March season.
